⚠️ The best way to view this page is via the substack app or go to this webpage: Dean & Meredith Substack and go to the most recent update. That way, you’ll be sure to see photos full size when you click on them, and also watch video files.
This will probably be our penultimate post: there will likely be one more with final thoughts and other learnings / perspectives we have gained while taking such an extended trip. We’ve already started to decompress and settle back into our daily routine and we’re (finally) starting to get over jet lag and re-establish our normal sleep patterns.
Now we have made it home I have an opportunity to post some video files that we were not able to add while travelling. Unfortunately substack is a little clunky when it comes to video files, with upload times an order of magnitude longer than still images. Combine that with Cunard restricting Space Karen’s upload speed for the bulk of our journey, plus inconsistent uploads speeds in Scotland & Ireland, we just weren’t able to post that many video files.
So here are the video files: this is going to be a bit of a file dump. If you’ve been reading along with our updates the real context is in those posts. Once again: if you’re reading this post in an email the videos may not work. you WILL need to go to the substack app or go to the most recent post at the link at the header of this post.
Leaving QM2 on a tender for Patong Beach, Thailand
Catamaran trip, Mauritius.
Leaving Langkawi timelapse.
Probably the roughest segment of our sea voyage, Durban - Capetown.
Eddie Jordan plays the spoons…
Penguins at Boulders Beach, South Africa.
Flamingos, Walvis Bay, Namibia.
A lap around the promenade deck.
Aquarium, Los Palmas, Gran Canaria.
Glenfinnan Viaduct.
And that’s about it for video files (well ones we thought worthy of posting anyway). Our imaging gear was used largely for still photos rather than videos.
